Hen Harrier Action Trustees Indy Kiemel Greene and Adrian Rowe to Deliver a Talk on Hen Harriers for the Friends of the Dales in February 2026

Yorkshire Dales based charity Friends of the Dales has enlisted Hen Harrier Action Co-chair Indy Kiemel Greene and fellow trustee Adrian Rowe to give an online presentation to their friends and supporters on Wednesday 18th February 2026.

Shocked by the continued levels of illegal persecution that make the Yorkshire Dales one of the UK’s worst hotspots, according to RSPB data, Friends of the Dales have launched a new high-profile campaign – Eyes on the Skies – to speak out against the ongoing criminal killing of birds of prey, and help raise public awareness and how to report suspicious activity.

Through an ambitious year-long programme of workshops, online talks and events, the charity hopes to raise awareness and lead to more ‘eyes on the skies’, more people in the local community who are knowledgeable about signs of persecution and illegal activity.

Hen Harrier Action is delighted to be involved in this outstanding campaign, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to talk more about our iconic Hen Harriers, and how we campaign to satellite tag and protect these rare and very special birds of prey.

Indy − familiar from Springwatch8 Out of 10 Bats, and Skydancer Day − will introduce the iconic, red-listed Hen Harrier: how to recognise it, its key behaviours, and why it’s a vital indicator of upland ecosystem health.

Adrian will then reveal how satellite tagging helps monitor raptors and exposes illegal persecution, and how the charity is funding both tags and specialised wildlife-crime detection dogs to strengthen protection efforts.

As Friends of the Dales notes: “This is unique opportunity to discover how Hen Harrier Action is raising awareness, empowering young people and driving real change for our uplands. Join us and learn how you can help.”

You can book for this free online talk, taking place from 5.30pm to 7.00pm on Wednesday 18th February, on the Friends of the Dales Events page. You can also find out about other events the charity is organising.
