In the course of just two tranquil hours at Alicia Heyden’s Wildlife Art workshop on a rainy Sunday afternoon in Bristol, sponsored by Hen Harrier Action, participants learned to create accomplished colour drawings of upland birds including Lapwings, Jack Snipe, and of course Hen Harriers, with some impressive results.
Alicia’s engaging teaching style ensured that all the participants left the workshop having learned some key techniques that they can build on for capturing the essence of birds both stationary and in flight, and armed with drawings that were at least ‘fridge door decor’, and in most cases well worth framing.
All the creative materials were supplied, and the group were also provided with ‘How to draw…’ instruction sheets for all the upland birds they tackled.
Draw your own Hen Harrier online with Alicia
And if you couldn’t make it to Bristol in person, why not gather the family round and try your hand at Alicia’s online art draw-along on YouTube?
Her engaging teaching style makes it easy to follow, and in less than 10 minutes working with Alicia, you’ll have created a stunning Hen Harrier image, like the one shown here, using only biro and a little colour, worthy of hanging on the wall.
It’s an ideal draw-along activity for kids…and adults too!
